Description A horticultural project working with 10-50 children and their parents to create a community garden. In addition to promoting healthy eating, the participants learn about the economic benefits of fruit and vegetable gardening.
Project Location: Alligator, MS (Bolivar County)
Individuals Impacted: 10-50 children (ages 5 - 12) and their parents.
Objectives •Design and create a community garden
•Educate and share the process of how to create, maintain, and sustain a community garden
•Educate residents about the economic benefits of fruit and vegetable gardening
•Promote healthy eating
•Beautification of the community
•Encourage youth entrepreneurialship

Evaluation of the Project: Formal evaluation conducted- Spring 2008 in partnership with Delta State University- Addressing community Challenges by Empowering Students and Staff (ACCESS) practicum course.
