Harvard Mississippi Delta Event
Harvard Law School
Posted: 11-12-2009

Description
Over the past year, students and faculty from Harvard Law School, Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard School of Public Health, and Harvard College have all traveled to the Mississippi Delta to work on a range of projects to improve the health, economic outcomes, community engagement, and overall wellness of communities in the Delta. Delta Directions organized the Harvard Mississippi Delta Celebration on October 21, 2009 to bring together students and faculty from these various schools to find ways to collaborate, or at least communicate, about various Delta projects. Students and faculty from Harvard Law School, Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard School of Public Health, and Harvard College all presented information about past/current projects in the Mississippi Delta. Others from the Harvard community joined to hear about these projects and ongoing opportunities in the region. The event was attended by members from all over the Harvard community, including those who have worked in the Mississippi Delta, those who are from the region, or those who have an interest in Delta-related issues for the future. Also in attendance were Delta Directions partners from the Winokur Family Foundation and Mississippi State University Social Science Research Center.

This event was a starting place to work on future efforts to collaborate in the Delta. Please see the attached flyers for more information on the various programs and projects being implemented in the Delta by these schools.
